POLICY INITIATIVES

Promoting legislation that helps protect the residential privacy of small business owners, entrepreneurs, and independent contractors is the central tenet of AWM. Here are the initiatives we are currently advancing:

What: Uniform Law Commission – Proposal for Revision of Definition of “Principal Office”

Why: The Uniform Law Commission drafts model and uniform laws that states then may choose to adopt. Currently, most states have adopted the Uniform Limited Liability Company Act, which includes a definition of “Principal Office.” AWM believes that this definition is out of date and could force individuals that operate their business out of a personal residence to list their residential address on state filings as their “Principal Office” address. AMW hopes to update this definition in order to provide a listing exemption for these individuals..
